LACERATION - Incised, Hand

A deep, gaping laceration across the palm or back of the hand with bright bleeding. This wound reads clearly from a distance and forces responders to make immediate decisions about fluid loss, infection risk, and hand function, key elements in casualty assessment and triage.

  • Workplace accident at a factory or kitchen: responder must triage hand injury against other casualties and decide whether to apply pressure, irrigate, or prepare for transport while managing the actor's anxiety and pain responses.
  • Assault or self-harm disclosure scenario in a mental health or A&E setting: actor presents with fresh laceration and emotional distress, requiring responder to manage both wound care and psychological support under time pressure.
